Travel Club

For the past few years, Whittier Community middle school and high school have gone on field trips for educational purposes.  this year, the teachers in Whittier Community School have come up with an new idea called the Tavel Club.  It makes going on these educational trips a school thing, involving older students and younger students to be working together.

There are 17 students involved in this years Travel Club.  We have been learning about the Pacific Region and Hawaii, we have also been fundraising to take a trip to Hawaii, to get hands on experience with the things we learned in school.

This is a great way for us to learn about science, history, and culture while using reading, writing, math, and technology.  Learning these things help us move through the level on our report card.

Proposal

This is the first year that the Whittier Community School has started the travel club, to set a great path and example for the years to come, we have decided to go to a small island, an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, an island that is both geographically and culturally interesting, the island of Hawaii.

During this trip, we plan to visit Cultural Centers, Historical Sites, National Parks, Universities of Hawaii, and a famous astronomy observatory.  Some of the famous places that we'll be going include Pearl Harbor, W.M. Keck Observatory, and Waikiki Beach.

Besides the fact that we'll be having a great time in Hawaii, the trip will also be an extremely educational experience for the students.  Some activities that we'll be doing to prepare for the trip are writing letters (such as the one you're reading now), researching activities, budgeting money, and travel club meetings every Tuesday afternoon.  These activities will help us learn and improve our writing skills, technology skills, math skills, and social skills.

When we get on Hawaii, we'll also learn cultural studies, astronomy, history, and science (visiting the volcanoes).  When we get back from Hawaii, we'll put together a multimedia project (imovie, another webpage, or a power point presentation), and the Travel Club will present the project to both our school district, and the Whittier City Council.

We have a budget for the amount of money we need (see "EXPENSES"), some possible activities (see "ACTIVITIES"), and our plans while we're in Hawaii (see "TRIP ITINERARY").  So please give us the permission to go to Hawaii this year.

Thank you for taking the time to look over our proposal plan, we hope to see your response to this proposal in the near future.

Sincerely,
